Pediatric Orthopedic Project’s Impact on Women
-
Across the globe, the vast majority of patients with scoliosis that go on to require surgery, are female.
In the Dominican Republic, any child with a physical deformity is often ostracized and at times, not allotted an opportunity for education.
-
Females who are afflicted are not considered marriage-worthy.
Every year we have a reunion of all previous patients operated on by POP.
That is where we bear the fruits of our labor.
-
Children who once came to us feeling dejected and a shadow of themselves are now active members of society.
They are happy, vibrant, and pursuing an education.
Your donations allow us to do this transformative work.
